Most people will be having an energy assessment (EPC) done on a property which is being sold, therefore any recommendations raised by the report are of more use to the buyer than the seller. However, the information will still give you ideas on what to look for in the house you might be buying, and how to save money once you are in. Although from 14th December 2007 every house should have it’s own report so you will know how you can improve it’s efficiency.

You can, of course, have an EPC report done even if you’re not moving. The cost (average £60 - £80) can show you how to save hundreds of pounds per year in some cases! A good investment for you and the environment!

And if you have one done with me, then decide to move after 3 years (as this is how long the EPC is valid for) I will revisit and reassess for a very reduced price.

If you have an EPC done for the property to be let, it will be valid for 10 years. But this could change! I will let you know if it does...
